As we celebrate a number of significant anniversaries in the first half of the year, it is worth reflecting how far on our journey we have come as a group.
One anniversary, in particular, is worth a special mention and that is us celebrating our 55th birthday. It is not overstating the point to say that Hutchison Ports has set the foundation that enabled us to build the leading global port group in the world.
Over five decades of expertise, experience and hard work from our people provided the blueprint to build today's global network of ports. I am pleased to say we are still developing new innovative trade routes connecting different regions and will continue to open new international markets.
We are advancing our facilities and services throughout our portfolio, engaging in diversified projects including green energy, logistics and supply chain connectivity projects. One of our priorities is the integration of digitalisation within our operations and the adoption of smart port operations where applicable.
The flexibility that we have and the ability to pivot and embrace new opportunities and technology is the bedrock of our success.
Our commitment to sustainability and achieving net zero by 2050 continues unabated, with our goals and progress being validated by SBTi. Our net zero strategic roadmap has been developed which considers our future plans on electrification of our facilities, adoption of renewable energy and alternative fuels.
Many of our terminals in Europe have already transitioned to eco-friendly power, effectively brought emissions down to very low levels, with an aim to achieve net zero.
With our encouraging sustainability strategy and the integration of latest technology, like 5G and Internet of Things, I am confident that we will bring about a more efficient, safe, and sustainable future for ship owners and operators, ports, and maritime service providers, transforming the industry and minimising the environmental impact. Regional diversification enables the group to overcome many challenges and remain robust and while continuing to offer world-class services to our customers.
