This year, geopolitical events have contributed to an increasingly uncertain business environment for the shipping and ports sector. Countries worldwide have encountered significant challenges that have affected global trade and supply chains.
Despite these global headwinds and intense competition, I am proud to say our business units across all regions pulled together and delivered solid results, a testament to the dedication of our staff. Operations in every sector have strengthened and are progressing on a positive trajectory, continuing to expand steadily.
As part of our growth strategy, I am pleased to announce that two new semi-automated terminals in Egypt will soon be operational in Sokhna Port (has been listed in Guinness World Records for having the deepest artificial port basin created on land with a draught of 19 metres) and El Dekheila Port in early 2026 and 2027 respectively, further strengthening our presence in the Middle East & African market.
Stability in our core business is a result of our long-term strategic development, a balanced and diversified portfolio across regions, and the expertise of our dependable management team. We continue to work towards improving collaboration amongst ourselves and focus on customer centricity such that we don’t miss out on any business opportunities. Over decades, we have built a world-class network of ports and expanded into new markets thereby facilitating global trade and commerce.
As a leading global port operator, we have made some great advances in both business and technology. Our investments to our people and technology remain fundamental to Hutchison Ports’ success, these investments help us work smarter and stay ahead of the competition. Sustainability is just as important to us, and we are making great progress towards our goal of Net-Zero by 2050.
We have successfully navigated a tumultuous year, gaining valuable insights that will strengthen us in the future. I am confident that by staying united and doing the fundamentals well, we will be better placed to strengthen our industry position for the years ahead.
