BYD ARRIVES PAKISTAN

In February 2025, Hutchison Ports KICT successfully managed the inaugural shipment of BYD (Build Your Dreams) electric vehicles (EVs) to Pakistan, marking a pivotal moment in the nation's transition towards sustainable transportation. The first batch of EVs was the result of a strategic collaboration between National Logistics Corporation (NLC), BYD (Mega Motors), and KICT, focusing on the port’s capability to handle Ro-Ro vessels, delivery logistics, and storage of EVs at the yard.​ This collaboration deliver up to 100 EVs within the first 48 hours, reflecting the growing demand and readiness for EVs in the region.

The arrival of these EVs underscores Karachi Port Trust’s commitment to environmental sustainability and a transition to a greener future. In March, NLC, BYD and KICT penned an agreement for handling BYD EVs at the Off Dock Terminal in Karachi, Pakistan.
